| July 3 Jubilee! |
Celebrate America's Independence with a bang along the riverfront in Downtown Allegan on July 3rd, sponsored by the City of Allegan and the Downtown Development Authority. "July 3 Jubilee" consists of activities and entertainment for all ages and is a great way to show your patriotism for America.
Festivities for July 3 Jubilee begin at 5:00 pm with a parade through Downtown Allegan, and conclude with a fireworks show at dusk. The location of the activities and events is along Riverfront Plaza, Mahan Park, Hanson Park, and Brady Street in Downtown Allegan. Entertainment for the event includes musical performances, street performers, and more. July 3 Jubilee also has activities and games for your enjoyment including inflatable activities, visits with American hero, Ben Franklin, and more.
This year, July 3 Jubilee will feature three stages full of entertainment. Mahan Gazebo will host the country music band, Rebel Minds, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Rebel Minds will be followed by Allegan's local rock band Scrapyard. Finally, Compendium, a Western Michigan University jazz band will take the stage. This Boardwalk Center stage will once again feature local DJ "Rooster". Rooster will spin classic tunes from the '60s to the '80s, and he will be tossing summer-fun prizes to winners of his on-going trivia game until just prior to the start of the fireworks.
Hanson Park located behind the Griswold Auditorium will also have a full stage. Brian Tucker and his Cloggers will begin on the Hanson Park stage at 6:00 p.m. The Cloggers will be followed by Dilly Songs by Aaron Vande Wege. At 8:15 p.m., the band Nine Mile Smile from Grand Rapids will take the stage and play until just before the fireworks begin.
Just before the fireworks begin, each stage will have a performance of the National Anthem. On the Hanson Park stage, Jasman Jones, recent winner of Allegan's Got Talent, will be singing the National Anthem. Cath Hellman, a talented Allegan teacher, will be singing the National Anthem on the Boardwalk Center Stage. Allegan High School's Chorus will be performing the National Anthem on the Mahan Gazebo Stage.
"The fireworks display will be bigger and better this year! You won't want to miss the enhanced riverfront display. July 3 Jubilee draws folks from near and far. This is an opportunity to celebrate our freedom, honor those serving in the military and the veterans who have protected these rights, and have fun with families and friends," said Vicki Knuckles, Downtown Allegan Coordinator.
The third annual Jubilee Parade will take place at 5:00 p.m. Children, adults, and pets are encouraged to dress up like American heroes or decorate their bikes and vehicles or just wave to the parade as it passes by. If you are going to participate in the parade, you are asked to lineup at 4:00 p.m. at the Water and Cutler Street parking lot. The parade route will include Trowbridge, Walnut, Hubbard and Locust Streets.
Several food vendors will also be present throughout the evening. The vendors will be serving a variety of food ranging from pizza to elephant ears. In addition, the Allegan Rotary Club will host a Chicken BBQ along with a frozen yogurt cart.
Come celebrate the holiday along Allegan's riverfront. It is the perfect place for fun, entertainment, and fellowship. For more information regarding any of the events or the Jubilee parade, contact Vicki at 269.673.3456.

The Chamber's goal is to be a complete resource of area events for visitors and locals all in one location. The beauty of a website is that it allows accessibility to this information 24/7 from anywhere.
Please email your event's information to mail@alleganchamber.com for us to post on the website. Include a contact person and his or her information so we can direct any questions to him or her. Together we can dispel the myth that "there's nothing to do in Allegan"! |
