Nathan Andrew Salon is proud to announce and to acknowledge the salon's five years as a successful and growing Aveda salon providing its guests with a unique, nature-conscious spa experience in downtown Allegan.
Salon owner Nathan Fletcher is carving out his own unique niche and following a path of business ownership done the way he believes it should be. He and his staff share a talent for creating beauty combined with a passion for a natural, more organic lifestyle, resulting in a salon experience similar to what you might find in Chicago or New York.
"Five years ago we weren't sure what to expect!" said Fletcher. I attribute our success to the fact that we are constantly changing, educating ourselves on the latest trends in the industry, and updating the services we provide."

| Mural in Downtown this Summer! |
The winner of the Downtown Bakery & Deli's Art Expo, Jennifer VanderPloeg, will be painting a mural in Allegan this summer. Jenn is from Byron Center and is currently studying at Grand Rapids Community College, majoring in graphic art design.
The Allegan mural will be placed on the side of Creative Events' building, located at 128 Locust St. and will be comprised of six 4x8 panels for a total size of 8' tall by 24' wide. A historical description of the images painted will be there to provide details to viewers about Allegan and its history.
"I have always wanted art work on the side of our building since we purchased the building in 2007. It was like a blank sheet of paper screaming for color!" stated Deb Kerkstra, owner of Creative Events. "When Jenn came down to do some photography on the building we started talking and I found out that she has done murals for others. When she brought me examples of her work, I knew immediately that she was the one to do a mural for our building. The quality of her work blew me away!"
The project will reflect the history of Allegan, starting from Native American Indians and transitioning through the years. The mural was inspired by the historical book written by Nancy Ingalsbee and Carol Garofalo. The painting is her vision from that book.
The project, funded by the Allegan Downtown Development Authority will progress throughout the summer with the first panel expected before the July 3 Jubilee. The following panels will continue throughout the summer, and the entire mural is scheduled to be finished some time in September. |
