Community Development

The City of Allegan’s Community Development Department works to ensure that the City’s neighborhoods and commercial districts are great places in which to live, work, and play. The department provides staff support to the Economic Development Corporation, Downtown Development Authority, Historic District Commission, Planning Commission, and Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Community Development Department also works to resolve various blight and code enforcement issues. This includes issues such as building and property disrepair, animal waste, front yard parking, junk and trash abatement, and overgrown grass and vegetation.
